ESPN does it again! ...so does WVU!!!

Steve Slaton and West Virginia will be a force in the Big East in the coming years.

Morgantown madness
I was fortunate to be in Morgantown, W.Va., on Thanksgiving, where the wind chill was 4-below zero, but after the Mountaineers' first series I warmed up in a hurry watching quarterback Pat White and running back Steve Slaton run coach Rich Rodriguez's offense. I kept having to remind myself that both White and Slaton are freshmen, and they were running the offense like a well-oiled machine.

The Mountaineers get no love nationally because they are in the Big East -- the worst of the six BCS conferences. For what it's worth, Rodriguez has built one heck of a program in his five years. The Mountaineers have great athletes on defense and this freshman duo will be a handful for years to come. If they can get some wide receiver help to go along with that unstoppable running game, West Virginia is going to be a team to remember not only next year but in this season's Sugar Bowl. I wouldn't want to have to defend White on turf in Atlanta (where the Sugar Bowl is this season), because he will remind people of the quarterback who plays in the Georgia Dome on Sundays.
